Leicester 6-a-Side Tournament - September 2007

The Leicester Wildecats’ annual 6-a-side tournament was held on astro turf pitches at St Margaret’s Pastures in Leicester on a sunny day in early September.  16 teams had gathered in Leicester the evening before for the draw and to socialise with friends from other GFSN clubs.  Yorkshire Terriers won the Tournament after defeating the reigning champions London Titans in a nail-biting penalty shootout.  Mersey Marauders were awarded the Fair Play Trophy and James H of Nottingham Ballbois was the tournament’s top-scorer with 6 goals.  Trophies and medals were awarded at the Rainbow and Dove pub in Leicester where the Wildecats also paid tribute to Gareth Miller, their founder by presenting him with a signed shirt.   For the video diaries, players answered the following questions.  Listen to their answers by clicking on the players.
  1. Is gay football becoming more high profile/more acceptable to the gay community? What about to the broader community?

  2. Should it attract more publicity? Why?

  3. What would you like to see happen to gay football the coming season?

You can hear the players’ responses to these questions.
