Yorkshire 5-a-Side Tournament - March 2007

Clubs from around the country gathered in Leeds in March for the annual 5-a-side tournament hosted by the Yorkshire Terriers.  The weekend kicked off with the draw of the 24 teams competing in the Tournament followed by a night out in Leeds city centre’s gay bars and clubs.  The venue for the tournament was South Leeds Stadium and despite the best efforts of the weather, spirits were high.   GFC Bournemouth retained their trophy beating Yorkshire Terriers “Ward” team 6-3 after trailing 2-0.  In between snow storms and biting cold winds, the players shared their thoughts with us on these questions: 

1. How do the gay community respond to gay football?
2. How does it make you feel?
3. What are the stereotypes of gay football?
