GFSN Annual Tournament Dublin - June 2007

Teams from across the UK travelled to Dublin for the Annual GFSN Tournament which was hosted by the Dublin Devils (formerly known as Men United).   The tournament was played in glorious sunshine at Dublin City University’s outdoor astro-turf pitches.  The Dublin Devils won the Shield beating Mersey Marauders on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Yorkshire Terriers "Corrs" did the same to Leicester Wildecats 1 in the Vase final.  Dermot from the Dublin Devils was awarded Player of the Tournament, with the Fair Play award going to the Leicester Wildecats.   Trophies were awarded to the winning teams at the AGM the following day in The George pub in Dublin City Centre.  Players were asked the three questions below – click on them to hear their thoughts.

  1. How do you think that the recent changes in the ground regulations (regarding homophobia) will change behaviour at matches?

  2. What do you think the straight footballing community think of gay football?

  3. As a gay football player and supporter, what’s your message to the straight footballing community?

You can hear the players’ responses to these questions.
